It’s Bancho Streetfighter vs. Little Hercules!
When Hiroyuki Takaya (a.k.a. StreetFighter) faces against Kazuyuki Miyata (a.k.a. Hercules) Saturday in Tokyo, online sports wagering fans will witness a meeting of fighters whose reputations and styles are probably more impressive than their respective records. The featherweight championship that is at stake makes the records very secondary, while making the marquee aspect of this fight card very primary. Takaya (15-9 with 1 draw) and Miyata (11-7) are two battlers not short on nastiness.
This Saturday Takaya will come out ready to defend his title. Oddsmakers are wondering if Miyata will come out ready to take the title away. Does ‘Little Hercules’ believe that his time has come? The answer is yes. The MMA free pick here is for the challenger MIYATA, who hasn’t lost a match in more than three years, to keep his win streak alive and earn his first world title.
Takaya is familiar with all of this. The same night that Miyata won his last bout, Takaya defeated Bibiano Fernandez on New Year’s Eve to win the Dream Featherweight title that he presently holds. That victory capped off a big 2010 for Takaya in which he came out victorious in two fights via knockout (over Joachim Hansen and Chase Beebe respectively) before winning the title on December 31. Ironically, Takaya lost his most recent fight on the Strikeforce circuit, losing to Roberto Peralta in April in San Diego. His defeat of Fernandez, which gained him his title, avenged an earlier loss to the 31-year-old Brazilian at Dream 11 in September 2009.
Miyata is on a six-bout win streak, and has not been defeated in the cage since March 2008, when he lost via submission against Luiz Firmino at Dream 1, also in Tokyo, the same site as Saturday’s showdown. Miyata’s past five opponents, like his next one, were all from his native Japan. His past five wins have all come by decision, usually unanimous. His most recent victory came over Caol Ono on New Year’s Eve. His career has surged nicely of late, after starting his tenure by losing four of his first six matches. Saturday will mark his first ever title bout.
