It was another nondescript week in Week 12 as we went 7-7 ATS, and lost both our Upset Specials with the 49ers and Buccaneers. Our Week 13 card does not include Denver at Minnesota, which has no line pending the status of Adrian Peterson. It would be hard to go against the Tebow Magic regardless.
– The Eagles are officially done and they now fly three time zones on a short week. Love those Thursday night Upset Specials.
– The Bills would have upset the Jets if Steve Johnson didn’t shoot himself in the foot and we still do not think that the 6-5 Titans are for real.
– There is a strong possibility that Kyle Orton could make his Chiefs’ debut vs. his former teammates in Chicago, and the Kansas City defense still plays hard.
– The Dolphins have improved but the Raiders have to win these winnable games to be taken seriously as contenders. Upset Special #2.
– The Bengals looked like pretenders in the first meeting with Pittsburgh and then vs. Baltimore, and then Cincinnati couldn’t cover vs. Cleveland at home.
– The Ravens have lost after every big win they have had this year and they are now coming off the HarBowl. The Browns have played well the last three weeks.
– The Jets got a needed win vs. Buffalo, albeit by the skin of their teeth, and they now get to keep their playoff hopes alive vs. a Washington offense that may not score a touchdown.
– This is terrible timing for the Texans, as they are on their way to the playoffs for the first time ever but are now down to third-string quarterback T.J. Yates.
– The Panthers won their first road game of the year vs. the Colts and they now have a chance to make it two wins in a row vs. the reeling Buccaneers. Upset Special #3.
– Nobody can stop the Saints’ offense at home and the Detroit defensive line will now be short-handed with Suh suspended. Saints win by double-digits in a shootout.
– This and the Monday night game are the two toughest games to call this week. Rams won’t score much, but we don’t trust the 49ers offense at this big number.
– Yes, the Cardinals are improved, they are at home and the Cowboys just barely beat Miami. We don’t care as Dallas takes firm control of the NFC East.
– It is usually a bad idea to bet on a road favorite that covered the spread as a road favorite in its previous game. It is a worse idea to bet against these Packers.
– The last time the Patriots took a breather, they still beat Kansas City by 31 points. Blowout City anyone?
– It is a shame that somebody has to win this game, but at least the Chargers can score a few points.
