San Diego State at Fresno State Spread

Posted by Dakota Macqueen in Betting Sport Tips

The rivalry between San Diego State Aztecs and Fresno State Bulldogs will resume when they face each other for the first time since 2002. Fresno State will be joining the Mountain West next year, and as long as they remain in the same league, these two teams will be playing annually. Fresno State lost their last matchup against San Jose State in a 27-24 nail-biter. Matt Faulkner passed for 363 yards and two second-half touchdowns as San Jose beat Fresno State last weekend. Meanwhile San Diego State defeated UNLV thanks to the stellar play of Ronnie Hillman. Hillman ran for 192 yards and two touchdowns to prevent the UNLV comeback and ensure the victory. The Bulldogs lead the series 26-20-4, although they lost their last matchup against the Aztecs 16-14 way back in 2002.

According to the latest college football odds, the Aztecs are 7 point favorites with a total set of 60.5 points.

The San Diego State ensured a winning season when they beat UNLV 31-14 last week.  After being down 14-7 at halftime, the Aztecs stormed back in the third quarter thanks to a touchdown pass from Ryan Lindley to Collin Lockett, and a field goal by Abelardo Perez late to take the lead for good.  The Aztecs have a record of 7-4 and 4-3 in the MWC conference.

The Aztecs rank 53rd in the nation scoring with 29.3 points/game. They are also allowing their opponents just 24.1 points/game. They are 66th in the nation in passing yards with 224 yards/game and 31st in the rush with 192.3 yards/game.

Quarterback Ryan Lindley is completing 52.5% of his passes for 2459 yards and 20 touchdowns to 8 interceptions. Running back Ronnie Hillman is their leading rusher with 1478 yards and 15 touchdowns. A big game from this two will most likely mean a comfortable victory against the Bulldogs.

Fresno State is playing for pride in this one, because they have dropped four of its last 5 games to drop out of Bowl contention. They lost in their last game against San Jose State thanks to second half touchdowns by Matt Faulkner. The Spartan win was just their second win against Fresno State in 19 meetings. It’s also their first win in Bulldogs stadium since 1987.

The Bulldogs are allowing 35.2 points/game, while scoring a 56th ranked 28.6 points/game. They are 72nd in the nation at the rush with 146.8 yards/game and 30th in passing yards with 267.3 points/game.

Quarterback Derek Carr is completing 63.5% of his passes for 3208 yards and 24 touchdowns to 8 interceptions. Their leading rusher is running back Robbie Rouse with 1493 yards and 12 touchdowns. Jalen Saunders has also been a big addition to the Bulldogs offense with 16.3 yards/catch and 11 touchdowns. All three players need to step up their game if they want to complete an upset against the San Diego State Aztecs.
