Weekend Wager

I thought it would be apt to provide one last weekend wager prediction of the season for the big Champion’s league final on Saturday night.

It’s ‘ard to Pique winner

In all honesty I’m finding it Gerard to Pique a winner at the moment which is why I will clutch desperately at horrendous puns in order to avoid having to make a prediction. If I was forced to Iniesta fiver on either side it would be placed hesitantly on United as they are marginally better value and are somewhat used to the Wembley turf. David’s already thinking about his retirement Villa and may be the only striker who does not bag himself a goal on Saturday which could be telling.

Here is my predicted Manchester United starting XI:

Apparently Imogen Thomas has commenced her solo singing career – she’s been doing Giggs all over Manchester…

Prawn Sandwiches

So the eagerly awaited clash of arguably the greatest club teams in the world at the moment takes place on Saturday evening at Wembley but will Barcelona take advantage of the ‘home’ advantage? (London is closer to Barcelona than the Far East…) Having said that, many of the rich United fans have their prawn sandwiches waiting in the executive seats they only use a couple of times a year so perhaps the fan base will be pretty equal: no advantage there then.

Will it get a bit Lionel?

So what about the players? Will it be a Messi affair? It usually is, especially when Giggsy’s involved. Or will the British Bullfrog, Wayne Rooney, pull out all the stops and make it less of an Easy ride for Lionel et al? Some might say it’s Lionel’s Destiny to score…

One of United’s defender’s name is Rio and he will be made to dance on the turf by Lionel as the Argentinian scores once, twice, three times at Wembley … Well, perhaps he won’t bag a hat-trick but I do feel he will score, as indeed will Chicharito and perhaps Rooney too. Something is telling me that Saturday night will be a high scoring affair and when the stakes are high, filling your boots can certainly be fun, can’t it Ryan? How apt would it be for the hero/villain that is Giggsy to score the opener on his final appearance for United? If you fancy a bit of that you’re looking at 16/1 at Ladbrokes and probably around 22′s on Betfair. Of course, one has to wonder if Giggs will start.

Seydou: you could be the Keita Barca’s victory…

Barcelona substitute Seydou could be Keita their chances if Villa is subbed and this midfielder gets his opportunity. Keita can be key locking teams out of the box…but can he stop Ryan Giggs? Many have tried and failed: Imogen that! Ryan really should have boxed more clever…

Okay that’s your lot for the puns: here are my predictions:

Wager(s) of the Weekend

I can feel a high scoring draw coming on and it’s around 16/1 for the score to end 2-2 after 90 minutes .

A tenner on 2-2 would therefore see a lovely £160 in your sky rocket…

If you add Giggsy to score first at 16′s you’ll be £320 in profit…

And if you combine the two and risk another tenner on Giggs first and 2-2 you’ll be laughing hysterically for the rest of the weekend…in fact the rest of the year as you’ll be a couple of grand better off.

A more sensible bet might be Rooney first and 2-2 which is around 66/1 – still £660 profit for your hard-earned tenner…

Who scores first is, of course, a bit of a lottery but if you don’t get that right, make sure you stick with the score being a Desmond: TwoTwo that is!

See you all next season, wager-lovers!!!
