V Williams v Halep:

Williams won their only previous match earlier this month. It was settled in a third set tie break.

Williams is a long way short of her best form since her return from illness. However since her come-back match in March she has had wins over Kvitova, Ivanovic and Jankovic. She has taken Stosur to 3 sets which was in the quarter finals of the Family Circle Cup.

Halep has been in decent form on the clay. She reached the quarter finals in Barcelona and the semi finals of the Grand prix de Sar although as seeds dropped she was expected to win that title.

Williams starts at 1.50 which seems too low based on their previous match.

The news that Kenny Dalglish has been sacked as Liverpool manager has caused a flurry of activity in the betting to replace him at the Anfield helm. Dalglish has paid the price for a dismal league season on Merseyside and Roberto Martinez currently heads the next Liverpool manager betting, with Rafa Benitez, Brendan Rodgers and Fabio Capello also in the mix according to Ladbrokes.

There certainly won’t be a lack of takers for the job but there will be plenty of work to do for the man who takes over. Dalglish spent huge money last summer when bringing in the likes of Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam but he only returned a Carling Cup win from a disappointing season.

The San Antonio Spurs edged past the Utah Jazz last night to book their place in the NBA Playoffs conference semi-finals and eliminate the Jazz 4-0.

The Los Angeles Clippers have taken a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Memphis Grizzlies. Los Angeles blew a 10-point lead late in regulation of Game 4, but were able to hold on for a 10197 win in overtime. While the Clippers have a big lead over Memphis, they cant exactly feel all that comfortable. Their three wins have come by a combined six points, and who can forget their amazing 27-point come from behind win in Game 1. The series returns to Memphis for Game 5 on Wednesday.
